The property was built by Ivan and Mary Maike, and opened for business in October 1996. The Rekona Lodge started with five rooms and slowly expanded to the now twenty rooms. During the years of the ethnic tension between 1999 and 2003, the occupancy rates was almost zero, but through God’s grace we have been able to keep the property without losing it to the bank like many Solomon islanders lost their properties. Our family lives on the accommodation site, and many guests have told us they appreciate the familiar feel of the Rekona Lodge.
